As we prepare to celebrate the achievements of our Spring 2025 graduating class during the 180th Commencement Ceremony on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at 9 a.m. in the R. L. Vaughan Center, the safety of our students, families, faculty, staff, and guests remains our top priority.

As part of our continued commitment to safety, please note the following ongoing measures and reminders for commencement:

  • Tickets: Only guests with valid graduation tickets will be admitted. There will be no “will call” for this event.

  • Clear Bag Policy: To ensure a smooth entry process, only clear bags or small clutches will be permitted. Exceptions will be made for medically necessary items upon proper inspection. For more information regarding our clear bag policy, please click here.

  • Security Screening: For the safety of all attendees, guests will be required to undergo bag checks and pass through metal detectors upon entry. Please arrive early to ensure a smooth and timely screening process.

  • Prohibited Items: All weapons are strictly prohibited, including firearms (pistols, revolvers, rifles, 3D-printed guns), Concealed Carry Handguns (CCH), and all types of knives or edged weapons. No large bags (backpacks, oversized purses, totes), alcohol, signage, or disruptive items such as balloons, flowers, noisemakers (air horns, bullhorns, cowbells, tambourines), or similar objects are allowed.

  • Emergency Procedures: In case of an emergency, follow the instructions of ECSU Police and event staff. Upon arrival, familiarize yourself with the nearest exits.

  • Accessibility Accommodations: ECSU is committed to providing an inclusive and accessible experience. The commissioning ceremony, graduation rehearsal, and senior reception and pinning ceremony will continue as scheduled.
