ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. – As the Spring semester come to an end, the Elizabeth City State University (ECSU) family is eagerly anticipating annual tradition of Viking Fest. Slated to take place from April 14-21, this week-long celebration encompasses an array of school spirited festivities, community engagements, and opportunities to create unforgettable memories.

“Last year, shortly after I joined the ECSU family, I had an alum approach me with a serious and straight-face and asked point-blankly, ‘what are we doing for Viking Fest’,” said Vonda Easterling, assistant vice chancellor in the Divisions of Student Affairs and University Advancement. “I hadn’t been on campus for 30 days and people were already asking and highly anticipating the upcoming Viking Fest season.”

Easterling shared that it was in that moment that she understood Viking Fest was much more than the average spring fling or campus festival. This year’s line-up of activities planned by the Campus Activities Board (CAB) proves just that.

This year’s events include the Mr. and Miss ECSU Showcase where the candidates for next year’s titles present their respective platforms, the Community Connections Performance and Lecture Series featuring Grammy-nominated singer Chrisette Michele, the Official Yard Fest, and a host of other exciting activities.

Viking Fest continues to serve as a time for students, staff, faculty, alumni, and community members to convene, fellowship, and celebrate school spirit. Those excited about the week are encouraged to stay up to date on Viking Fest events by following the official Instagram and Facebook pages of CAB, SEAL, and ECSUVikings.
